I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this and sharing it. I had been trying to fix the sound for a while on my 1030 (running UNR), and I came across your post on a forum which led me here. Not only did you give me the look of the MIE, which I really like, but you fixed the sound issue which I been unable to fix on my own. Thanks to you, my HPmini is now 100% functional and looks exactly how I want it to.

After a couple of false starts I’m loving this. I was using UNR, but I think this is more awesomer ;) I’ve got one question, though… I can’t figure out why my home directory at /home/milo puts everything on the desktop. Anyway, thanks for this.

    Glad you like it.

If you edit /home/milo/.config/users-dirs.dirs (the bolded part is a hidden folder, so you may have to press Control-H to see it), then you want to change the first line to say

    XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=”$HOME/Desktop”

You may have to log out and log back in again for the change to take effect.

    Hey
Thanks for sharing this remix – it’s very useful. Way faster than the pre installed windows XP.
So fare i have had no problems at all.

I’ve tried downloading the latest from 2share on two different computers and both quit downloading then it wouldn’t let me download anymore. Should check with them and see what the deal is. Now trying an older release because I’m sick of HP MIE

    Great remix, thank you!

May I ask, if you don’t mind, what is the theme? It’s very nice.

Also, not having much Ubuntu knowledge, is there any reason that 8.04 can’t look and feel as nice as 9?

    Thanks again,

    S

The first two versions use DarkRoom or Dust Sand (I forget which, but both are available in Ubuntu 9.04 by default, even though Human is the first theme you see).

The third version uses GlassyBleu, which is the default theme in HP’s Mobile Internet Experience version of Ubuntu.

And, yes, those themes should work in 8.04, too. You just have to copy the theme folders from /usr/share/themes to /home/username/.themes and then change the theme settings in System > Preferences > Appearance

The Broadcom Bluetooth/Wifi Cards does not work properly in the latest LPIA verision. Only the WiFi part of the card works. Not the BT part of the card.

I have tried to download and install the BroadCom Linux LTA drivers and it still does not work…

  9. Michael Eric Berube Says:

Still enjoying your remix on my HP 1035NR.
I made the mistake of letting it update itself (when the damned popup suggested it) and the update disabled all sound. I reinstalled from the ‘live’ USB again and it all works again save the external headphone jack and I cannot get Open Office to work regardless of how I install it. Any suggestions on what it is safe to update and how to get OO and the external sound to work?
Thanks for all the hard work.
    :)

I’m not sure about OpenOffice. Maybe you can start a thread in the Ubuntu Forums for that.

This should help you with sound after a kernel upgrade, though.
