As far as I can tell, this fixes some of the issues that came up in the last version (suspend-to-RAM not taking, the desktop folder and home folder being the same). I’ve also added the PPA repositories for Firefox 3.5, even though I did not install 3.5 itself (but with the PPA repositories, you can easily install it yourself using the package manager).

It’s come to my attention that the combination of Bluetooth, Broadcom, and the lpia kernel in Jaunty don’t work. I don’t have any Bluetooth devices myself, so I can’t effectively test it, and I also do not even know what fixes I would have to employ to get Bluetooth working.

If anyone has definite working fixes, let me know.

For those of you that are, I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. I’m in the process of uploading a new image that I hope does not have the problem in it.

Problem
As a workaround to wireless not properly waking from sleep, I decided to take out the sky2 module during suspend and then put it back in during resume. Unfortunately, I don’t think I picked the right method for removing and reinstating modules.

Symptoms
Instead of sleep actually suspending your HP Mini to RAM, it just prompts you to unlock the screen.

I honestly didn’t have the foresight to version-number these, as I didn’t think I would have multiple versions. Right now I have the regular release and this new lpia release. If I have a third release, I may have to start adding version numbers.

In this new release, there are a few changes:

It uses the low power Intel architecture (lpia) kernel, which supposedly gives you better performance and longer battery life. I haven’t noticed much of a difference but maybe others will.

Because some packages (DropBox and Opera, for example) are not compiled for lpia, there is also a little script in the user’s home folder for converting i386 packages to lpia… well, not really converting them, but allowing you to install them without error.

The Glassy Bleu theme, wallpaper, and GDM login screen from the original HP Mobile Internet Experience are installed.

A better workaround for the wireless after waking from sleep bug is implemented.

Go to the Download page to get it.
