System Requirements
- An HP Mini 1120nr netbook (the one that comes with the Mobile Internet Experience). I have the ability to test this remix only on the HP Mini 1120nr. I’ve heard that this works on some other 1000 models, but I am unable to verify the extent to which it does or to support problems that may occur on other models.
- A USB stick of at least 1 GB (formatted as FAT16 or FAT32)
- A (fast) broadband internet connection.
Instructions
- Download the the disk image (roughly 615 MB)*** and the MD5sum to your computer’s desktop folder.
- In a terminal (Alt-F2 and then gnome-terminal) paste in the commands
cd ~/Desktop andmd5sum -c hp-mini-remix-9.04-090704.iso.md5 to verify that the download came through uncorrupted. - Use UNetBootIn to “burn” the disk image to a USB stick.
- Keeping the USB stick plugged into your HP Mini 1120nr, reboot and then press F9 when prompted in order to change the boot order, and then select your USB stick instead of the SSD or hard drive.
***Note: The .iso is hosted on a site with lots of ads. If you want to support their hosting costs, you can unblock the static ads, but make sure you have NoScript on—otherwise, prepare for a pop-up or two. The download link is at the bottom-right-hand corner.
Non-lpia Release
If you want the first release (which used the i386 instead of lpia kernel), you can find it at one of these download locations:

So, after messing around with customizing the layout — I’m having a problem with a simple task.
I’m trying to create a series of folders labeled Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc. as opposed to having everything on my desktop. Now if I’m not mistaken, I believe on my previous versions of Ubuntu, I had these folders in my Home dir (not sure) — but now my Home folder is my desktop… or atleast anything I create in there ends up on the desktop. I’ve tried to dig through the file system to find a safe spot, but no luck there either.
I’ve changed the values in the nautilus desktop folder to not display anything on my desktop, though I’m still having the issue. Any ideas?
I’m messaging you since you created the image file, I wasn’t sure if you had altered the Home directory functions or anything like that. Thanks in advance.

Not sure why that happened.
If you edit /home/btron/.config/users-dirs.dirs (the bolded part is a hidden folder, so you may have to press Control-H to see it), then you want to change the first line to say
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=”$HOME/Desktop”
You may have to log out and log back in again for the change to take effect.

I don’t know. You should probably start a support thread on the Ubuntu Forums. I don’t know much about the Netbook Remix (except that I don’t like it).

Finally installed this distro on my HP Mini 110 1030CA.
Sorry to say, but the sound still does not work.
Also:
touchpad does not work if you tap it instead of the buttons.
Sugestion. Keep the UI as Ubuntu standard (task bar on top and bottom, menus, etc).
